Dr. Margaret A. Hamburg is Vice President for Biological Programs at NTI, a
private foundation whose mission is to reduce the threat of weapons of mass
destruction. Prior to her current position, she was the Assistant Secretary
for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,
where she served as chief policy advisor to the Secretary of Health and Human
Services on bioterrorism issues and where she developed the first public health
bioterrorism preparedness program in the nation. Dr. Hamburg is a former Commissioner
of Health for the City of New York.
