Richard C. Leone is President of the Century Foundation, a public policy research
foundation in New York and Washington. Mr. Leone was formerly chairman of the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and State Treasurer of New Jersey.
He also was President of the New York Mercantile Exchange and a managing director
at Dillon Read and Co., an investment banking firm. He is a director of several
public companies and of the American Prospect. He is a member of the Council
on Foreign Relations, the Pew Hispanic Center advisory board, and the National
Academy of Social Insurance. He served as executive director of a White House
Task Force on the Cities and as Administrative Assistant to the governor of
New Jersey. His analytical and opinion pieces have appeared in The New York
Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Foreign Affairs, The Nation,
and other publications. He is co-editor of two collections of essays, Social
Security: Beyond the Basics and The War on Our Freedoms. Mr. Leone earned a
Ph.D. and was a member of the faculty at Princeton University.
